Not sure you are pregnant? Check this TEN symptoms !

Maybe your period is late or your boobs are sore – whatever is the sign, or maybe you think you might be pregnant. So what do you do? Most early pregnancy symptoms occur in the first four weeks and maybe that is the reason why you are feeling strange. Here are our top 10 symptoms to find out for sure if you’re pregnant.

  1. Missing Period - the hallmark symptom of pregnancy, and menstruation is absent throughout the pregnancy
  2. Distaste or sickness can start very early for some women – a common early sign of pregnancy will be morning abomination which means that except nausea may include vomiting any time in the day or at night. This usually starts when you’re around six week pregnant.
  3. Urinate more often – when you are pregnant, an early sign is the need to wet. This is down to a combination of a larger volume of blood in your system plus your kidneys working harder and of course your pregnancy hormones.
  4. Headaches - in the early stages of pregnancy. This is due to the sudden rise of hormones in your body as it adjusts to being pregnant
  5. Darkening of the skin around your nipples – is also a common early sign of pregnancy (the areolas) getting darker. You may also find the nipples become erect and the bumps around your nipples more pronounced.
  6. Food appetence or aversions –  you might be put off by certain food, especially if you’re experiencing nausea from morning sickness too! However you may also find that you develop carvings for certain foods from an very early stage of your pregnancy.
  7. Mood swings - Find yourself weeping over a TV Show episode or raging because the gardener can’t come until Sunday? Because of the hormones, you can go from being tearful to angry instantly.
  8. Bloating, cramps and backache - something that many women mistake these common early signs of pregnancy for PMS symptoms, actually the reasons are hormonal changes and the growth of the uterus.
  9. Fatigue - During the first few weeks, your body is working faster to support the pregnancy, and being tired is a normal response. The extra progesterone produced after conception causes your basal body temperature to rise, which in turn contributes to a lack of energy and your heart pumps faster to bring more oxygen to the uterus.
  10. Vaginal discharge - Some women may notice a thick, milky discharge in early pregnancy. This occurs in the first weeks of pregnancy as the vaginal walls are getting thicker. This discharge may occur throughout the pregnancy.
